NYOTA PROJECT ENTERS NATIONAL ROLL-OUT PHASE: A NEW DAWN FOR KENYA’S YOUTH
During this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations in Kitui County, President William Ruto reaffirmed the Government’s firm commitment to empowering Kenya’s young people through the NYOTA Project, an ambitious national initiative designed to expand youth employment, strengthen savings culture, and promote dignified livelihoods.
The President announced that the Project is now entering a nationwide verification and roll-out phase, marking a significant milestone in Kenya’s efforts to unlock youth potential. The new phase will focus on ensuring that eligible and deserving youth are identified, verified, and supported to access job opportunities and structured business support across all counties.
“We will work together, we will streamline our efforts, and we will serve our youth not only with opportunities but with dignity and purpose,” President William Ruto, Mashujaa Day 2025
The Head of State underscored the importance of collaboration among National Agencies, County Governments, and Development Partners to ensure smooth coordination and readiness for implementation. The President highlighted that the NYOTA Project will prioritize youth aged 18–29 years, and extend support up to 35 years for persons with disabilities, ensuring that inclusivity remains central to Kenya’s youth agenda.
President Ruto further emphasized that the NYOTA Project represents a paradigm shift, from short-term handouts to structured, sustainable empowerment. The initiative aims to nurture a generation of financially responsible youth who not only secure meaningful jobs but also build savings and embrace sound financial habits for long-term stability.
The NYOTA Project, which is a flagship component under the government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), integrates employment facilitation, entrepreneurship support, and financial inclusion. It positions young people as key drivers of Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.
As the Project moves into its roll-out phase, stakeholders, County Governments, and youth organizations have been urged to prepare for the upcoming verification and engagement exercises. This collective effort is set to ensure that every eligible young person across the country can benefit from the opportunities that NYOTA provides.
The President’s message during the national celebrations was one of hope, structure, and shared responsibility. A call to action for all sectors to unite in building a future where Kenya’s youth thrive with dignity, productivity, and purpose.
